The Bournemouth Air Festival is a 4-day family spectacular attended by 100,000’s of people from every walk of life. The Forces Village is a very popular attraction which is always supported by the 3 services and Headquarters SW. Andy and the van were situated on the cliff top between the Navy and RAF on a prominent junction, which allowed easy access in and out for people looking for assistance and support, particularly useful for anyone not comfortable with the large crowds.
The Outreach day started at 0600hrs which allowed people to visit the van for a chat and a brew and bacon butty ahead of the start of the day’s events.
Over the 4 days the Andy was kept very busy, speaking with over 1500 individuals and making 600 referrals and offering advice and valuable additional support. The days were filled with spectacular aircraft displays, and the nights had a beating the retreat, and various social events ending with a fireworks display and night time parachute display.
A very busy but worthwhile few days. Job done, feet up for a well deserved rest.
